Dili, November 21, 2025 - The CEOs of commercial banks operating in Timor-Leste recently met to discuss the establishment of the Banking Association of Timor-Leste, an initiative considered essential for strengthening the national financial sector.

 

The proposed association aims to enhance coordination among banking institutions, promote financial inclusion, drive digital innovation, and contribute to greater stability and transparency within the country’s financial system.

 

The meeting marked an important step towards strategic alignment among the banks and the development of common policies that will benefit customers and the broader financial market in Timor-Leste.

 

The banks participating in the meeting included BNCTL, BNF, BNU, BRI, and Mandiri.
